I spent a few months in bangalore recently, and managing food expenses was a nightmare. Relying purely on online delivery or restaurants drains your wallet fast, and we all know PG food is universally terrible.
But trying to eat local isn't much better. Let's be real, relying on unorganized WhatsApp groups or literally walking 15 minutes in the heat just to find out your local mess is serving pumpkin again is absurd in 2026.
That's exactly why I started building MessMenu.in. It's a hyperlocal, walk-in marketplace for student messes. Unlike big corporate delivery apps that charge crazy markups, this is built purely for discovery. You check the menu on your phone, and then you walk over. Simple.

Where We Are Right Now
Right now, the platform is in an exclusive pre-launch waitlist phase. I'm focusing heavily on hyper-local discovery, starting with programmatic SEO pages for major student and IT hubs.
Before I roll out the full platform, I want to make sure I'm building it for the exact right crowd. The waitlist is currently capturing intents: whether you're a diner looking for good daily food, or a mess owner looking to guarantee daily foot traffic.
A Quick Nod to the Tech
I'm keeping the stack lightweight so the app never feels slow.
It's built on Next.js 15 and React 19, thrown together with Tailwind v4 and shadcn/ui so I don't have to write basic buttons from scratch. The database is just pure Supabase (PostgreSQL). No bloated enterprise garbage, just fast, modern tech that actually works.
What's Next
Right now, the whole point of this app is just helping you find a decent local mess and actually knowing what they're cooking before you walk outside.
What's rolling out first:
- Live Menus: Literally just tracking breakfast, lunch, and dinner at local messes. No more walking 15 mins for pumpkin curry.
- Owner Self-Service: Mess owners get a simple dashboard to update their daily menus.
Once discovery is actually solved, here's the crazy long-term stuff I want to build:
- Reserve Your Plate: Pre-book your food before it sells out. No more last-minute "khatam ho gaya" surprises.
- The Mess Pass: A single balance you can use across any partnered mess so you can switch it up whenever your routine changes.

Slide Over to the Waitlist
Enterprise apps are boring, and local food discovery is completely broken. I'm trying to fix it.
If you're a student or a working professional tired of the daily food guessing game, slide over to MessMenu.in and drop your name on the waitlist so I can get you early access when we roll out.
